remembering motherland

In my childhood dreams……..

My inner soul screams

“I can’t remember my motherland”

In the morning dawn, when I feel the briskly air….

When the scorching sun bends my back

And then I search for the snow sack

I have just one answer….

“I can’t remember my motherland”

In the’ good morning’ wishes

When I search for that affectionate “namaskar”

In the enchanting prayers of shivratri till navreh

There are words screeching ‘happy new year’

And I am in search of “navreh mubarak”

I have just one answer…..

“I can’t remember my motherland”

In the ancient temples when I search for kheer bhawani

Or when in McDonald’s I miss the dumaloo

When wandering on the m.g.road I search for that ‘lal chowk’

I have just one answer…..

“I can’t remember my motherland”

In search for heaters when I feel the kangri

Or while wearing all those branded cardigans

I miss my very own “pheran”

When in the’ rat race’ of today, I search for the peace and pace of life…

I have just one answer………

“I can’t remember my motherland”

But yes

In the killing of thousands

In the suicide bombers,

In the terrorism of today,

In the suffering of mankind,

In the tears of mothers

“I can remember my motherland”

“I can remember my motherland”

………………………………parul kaul

Glossary:-

navreh mubarak-happy new year

A Necklace can be described; fusion of pearls and Kashmir can be described like you did.
Scintillating thoughts, which you have put together very well.

Navreh Mubarak,
I am not sure I have the right qualifications to really make a serious comment on your blog all I can say at this point in time is that it an honest thought but a little bit of research of our culture shall go along way in shaping your thought process
